Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery, Jaipur (IIGJJ) is privileged to be situated in this epicenter of the world’s colored gemstone industry.

Along with being the largest and the finest centre for gemstones and jewellery, Jaipur is the home to remarkably skilled artisans who are into gemstone cutting for ages. It was around 10 years ago when the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council envisioned infusing the exceptional standards of professional learning and knowledge into the aspiring individuals in jewellery business, IIGJJ was established with such clear goals. IIGJ is dedicated to bridging this gap by offering customized courses in jewellery manufacturing, designing, and gemology.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) was set up by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India in 1966. It was one of several Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) launched by the Indian Government, to boost the country’s export thrust. The GJEPC is the apex body of the gems and jewellery industry and today it represents over 7,000 exporters in the sector. With headquarters in Mumbai, the GJEPC has Regional Offices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Surat and Jaipur, all of which are major centers for the industry. One of the crucial aspects of the GJEPC’s functioning relates to various measures undertaken to upgrade, upskill and generally improve the industry’s standards and products. The Council has set up various institutes across the country, foremost among them the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) imparting international quality courses for training artisans and designers for this industry.

VSU

Vishvakarma Skill University (VSURAJ) (formally known as Rajasthan Skill University); The first Government Skill University of the country has been established vide the Act passed in the State Assembly. Bachelors and Masters Degree program currently offered at IIGJ Jaipur are affiliated by VSU.

NSDC

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is a Public Private Partnership in India. It aims to promote skill development by catalyzing the creation of large quality vocational training institutions. It provides funding to build scalable vocational training initiatives.

RSLDC

IIGJJ was also the Training Partner of Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC). RSLDC signed MoU with IIGJ to implement skill training programme under its ELSTP scheme to execute skill development trainings in Gem & Jewellery sector and train 3650 youth.

GJSCI

Gem and Jewellery has been identified by the NSDC as a high growth sector to initiate skill-training programs. With this in mind, the leading bodies from within the Jewellery industry have established the Gem and Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) IIGJJ has supported GJSCI in defining National occupational standards & Qualification packs for various job roles of the G & J industry. GJSCI acknowledged the role of IIGJJ and awarded them the status of ‘National Centre of Excellence’ for the Gems and Jewellery sector.
